The good times, about $29 billion of trade, will keep rolling into 2021 thanks to a new pact between Canada and the UK.

The Queen’s Gambit: The UK officially broke up with the EU in 2016, moved out in January 2020, but shared their friends, in the form of a year long transition period where trade deals remained in place, which expires at the end of this year.

The deal is interim, both countries intend to negotiate a more meaningful agreement in the year ahead. Issues to be covered include: financial services, digital trade, environmental issues and women’s economic empowerment.
