What to do this weekend

Feb 14, 2025

What to do this weekend

Eat a batch of freshly baked scones. There’s nothing better to warm you up on a cold winter day than a plate of warm scones. There are many ways to go: the classic route, the dessert route (lavender vanilla, blueberry), and the savoury route (olive and tomato, bacon).

Read Three Days in June by Anne Tyler. The newest book from the prolific Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist tells the story of a divorced couple struggling in the run-up to their daughter’s wedding. It’s a humorous and heartfelt exploration of love and marriage.

Watch Paddington in Peru, now in theatres. Spend this weekend with the beloved British bear as he takes a rollicking trip to his native country. If you want to catch up, the first film is streaming on Netflix, Prime, and Crave. The second one, strangely, is only on Paramount+.

Listen to Love & Hyperbole by Alessia Cara. The Canadian singer-songwriter returns with her most mature and accomplished album yet. An expanded sonic palette, marked by rich instrumentation, complements her heart-on-sleeve lyrics and inimitable raspy voice.—QH
