What to do this weekend

What to do this weekend

Eat an out-there blueberry recipe. We love eating in-season fruits, and blueberries might be our favourite. But simply eating them out of the carton can get a little boring. That’s why you should make a meal with them, like a galette, a lamb bolognese, or a flatbread pizza.

Read In Too Deep by Adam Feibel and Matt Bobkin. Sum 41, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne. These were massive names growing up if you’re a Canadian of a certain vintage, and this new book details how they — and other Canuck acts of the era — redefined punk music.

Watch Materialists, now in theatres. Written and directed by Canadian Celine Song, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2024 for her feature Past Lives, this slick romantic drama stars Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans as a love triangle divided by class.

Listen to Talkin to the Trees by Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts. The Canadian legend just won’t stop making music, and has released his 48th studio album. It’s the first with his new backing band, who have brought some newfound vigour to the old man.—QH
