What to do this weekend

What to do this weekend

Eat a veggie sandwich. Sandwiches are a year-round food, but all that deli meat can feel a bit heavy in the summer. For some lighter fare, try out some global veggie sandos, like an English cucumber sandwich, a Vietnamese vegan banh mi, or a Bombay grilled sandwich.

Read The CIA Book Club by Charlie English. This new book investigates a little-discussed footnote in the history of Cold War spycraft: the CIA’s initiative to sneak contraband literature into the Eastern Bloc. It’s an engrossing history, and a testament to the written word’s power.

Watch Superman, now in theatres. It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it's… a superhero movie that could maybe revive the flagging genre? We’ll admit, our hopes are high for this; the cast is strong and it looks like it’s trying to strike the right balance between earnest and humorous.

Listen to Let God Sort Em Out by Clipse. After making some of the best hip hop albums of the 2000s, the brothers Pusha T and Malice return for their first album in over 15 years, produced entirely by longtime collaborator Pharrell. The result is positively ferocious.—QH
