What to do this weekend

What to do this weekend

Eat a slice of tomato ice toast. This new food trend is splitting opinions online. Basically, you freeze a tomato and then shred it — sort of like a makeshift shaved ice — onto a slice of toast with the toppings of your choice. It’s odd, but honestly, it also sounds quite refreshing.

Read Bite by Bill Schutt. Teeth. Creatures everywhere use them to chew and nibble. But where did they come from? In this new book, a zoologist takes a scientific and cultural look at chompers, tracing where they originated from and how they’ve helped vertebrates thrive.

Watch Alien: Romulus, now in theatres. The latest instalment in the sci-fi horror franchise follows a group of spacefarers who find an abandoned space station. And wouldn’t you know it? There are Xenomorphs there! Waiting to do the nasty Xenomorph stuff we know and love.

Listen to Champion by Pom Poko. The name of the unjustly underrated Norwegian post-punk band’s new album is apt, because the record is an absolute winner. Each song is a rush, mixing enthralling guitar work with hooks that are equal parts catchy and quirky.—QH
