What to do this weekend

Aug 2, 2025

What to do this weekend

Eat a peach (or several peaches). We’re in the heart of peach season right now, and those fuzzy stone fruits are tasting mighty good. Go out and buy a crate of them to make some late summer meals, like a peach kale salad, peach-glazed salmon, or classic peach cobbler.

Read The Deepest Fake by Daniel Kalla. The bestselling author and ER doctor from Vancouver has a new, highly topical thriller about the head of an AI company whose life begins to unravel. However, he suspects that his circumstances could be a digital deception.

Watch The Naked Gun, now in theatres. The reboot of the iconic spoof series is low-key one of our most anticipated movies of the year. We have faith the combined powers of Liam Neeson and ⅓ of the Lonely Island will deliver a goofy comedy that lives up to the original.

Listen to the satirical songs of Tom Lehrer. The mathematician and songwriter died last week aged 97. Though not a household name, Lehrer gained acclaim and a cult following for his delightfully dark and kookily catchy tunes. Listen to this collection of his top tracks.—QH
