What to do this weekend

Sep 28, 2024

What to do this weekend

Eat jams, preserves, marmalades, etc. Fall brings with it a cornucopia of tasty fruits ripe for picking and ready to be turned into jam. If you’ve never made a batch of the sticky stuff before, check out this beginner’s guide from the Food Network. Next step, go get some fruit.

Read Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. One of the world’s biggest authors returns with another tear-jerker about the traumas and romantic entanglements of everyday people. Touted as her best yet by some critics, it examines two brothers struggling after their father’s death.

Watch Megalopolis, now in theatres. Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola (ever heard of The Godfather?) has been working on this sci-fi epic for decades and sold off parts of his family winery to self-fund its US$120 million budget. The least you could do is check it out.

Listen to SOPHIE by Sophie. Considered one of the most influential pop and dance music producers of this century, Sophie’s legacy was cut short by her untimely death in 2021. This first and final posthumous album is a reminder that she had so much more left to do.—QH
