What to do this weekend

What to do this weekend

Eat a hearty traybake. In this sluggish winter weather, who has the energy for complicated culinary feats? We’d much rather throw a bunch of stuff in a tray and stick it in the oven. Courtesy of BBC Good Food, here are 78 traybakes which prove laziness can be delicious.

Read The Lost Cause by Cory Doctorow. The outspoken Canadian writer and journalist’s new science fiction novel takes place in a not-too-distant future where extreme weather has completely reshaped everyday society, but some still try to hang on to outmoded ways of life.

Watch May December on Netflix. Netflix’s newest prestige film is garnering major early awards buzz. Starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, and directed by auteur Todd Haynes, it’s a stirring psychodrama about an actress and the woman she’s portraying.

Listen to Migration Magic by Feeling Figures. This collection of fuzzy, tuneful garage rock tracks from the Montréal band is bright and delightful, but with enough rough edges to keep things interesting. Plug in, bundle up, and go for a winter walk while listening to it.—QH
