What to do this weekend

Eat some German munchies. In honour of Germany legalizing recreational cannabis, indulge in some snacks our Deutsch pals will crave after a puff of der marihuana-zigarette, like kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes), currywurst (exactly what it sounds like), and Bavarian pretzels.

Read The Heart of a Superfan by Nav Bhatia with Tamara Baluja. If you’ve ever watched a Raptors game, you’ve undoubtedly seen Bhatia in the crowd. In this memoir, he details his own unique immigrant story and how it mirrored the scrappy success of his favourite team.

Watch Dune: Part Two, now in theatres. Return to Arrakis with Canadian director Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to his hit adaptation of the visionary sci-fi novel. The overwhelming consensus: See it on the biggest screen possible (and check out the first one if you haven’t).

Listen to Souvenirs by Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou. This new re-issue from the acclaimed Ethiopian pianist and nun, who passed away last year at age 99, was recorded amid political unrest in the ’70s and ’80s. It remains spellbinding and utterly unique.—QH
