What to do this weekend

Eat a springtime meal. Spring officially sprung this week, so celebrate with a three-course meal made of seasonal ingredients. How about garlic sautéed fiddleheads for the appetizer, a spring one-pot roast chicken for the main course, and lemon rhubarb possets for dessert?

Read Cuckooland by Tom Burgis. The veteran journalist’s new book reads like a real-life crime novel, taking a humorous and harried peek at the work done by Mohamed Amersi,  who worked with powerful people all around the world to bend the truth to their liking.

Watch Problemista, in select theatres. The directorial debut from visionary comedian Julio Torres sees him playing an aspiring toy designer who runs into trouble when his visa expires. It’s being heralded as a sharp look at the nightmare that is the U.S. immigration system.

Listen to Tigers Blood by Waxahatchee. The sixth album from singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield’s band is perhaps the indie Americana group’s best yet — which is something we feel like we write every time they release an album because each one is incredible.—QH
